This component of my hat has broken, and I'm having trouble figuring out what to google for to order a replacement. Suggestions?



(Alternatively perhaps there's a clever type of knot I could use?)

"Cord lock" seems to be the magic term, although yours appears to be leather which seems quite unusual.

I was thinking toggle or woggle or something. Woggle gives you this:

I think a woggle is a similar concept but on a larger scale – it looks to me as if it only counts as a woggle if it's big enough to get a scarf-sized thing through rather than the cord of a hat.

Based on my memory of scouts woggles expect thicker things going through them. But maybe it's different down under.

The string on my Tilley hat is adjusted via a (double, I think) fisherman's knot.
