Questions from Marna

What are you currently reading?
Gibbon's History Of The Decline And Fall Of The Roman Empire. I am also part way through a bunch of other books including On The Road and Vernon God Little but am a bit stalled on them.
How long have you been reading it (or them)? How much longer do you think it will take you to read it?
The Gibbon, for a bit under a week. I'll probably finish the whole work some time in Q3 2004.
Is it a gobble-in-one-session sort of book, or a read slowly through book, or a pick a page at random now and then book?
Read slowly through!
Do you ration books and force yourself to read them slowly? What books have you done this with recently?
I never force myself to read slowly. I often fail to read as much as I'd like.
Do you sometimes *wish* that you'd rationed a book when you get to the end of it?
Mmm. Not really.
What was the last book you bought?
I bought a pile of stuff at Waterstone's at the end of the year. I think the last individual thing I picked up off the shelves was a book on the pre-colonization history of America.
Do you know what book you're going to buy next?
Not really. I have huge numbers of unread books, I ought to read more and buy less.
How many borrowed books are sitting on your shelves?
Err, a few.
When will they get given back?
Sometime.
How many books of yours are currently on other people's shelves?
At least one, possibly more; I'm bad at keeping track.
When do you expect them to return?
Sometime.
