(More helpfully, arty punk-disco-funk-indie, sort of the midpoint between the Strokesy garage-rock of two years ago and someone like the Rapture (or more accurately the band they're a pale imitation of, the Gang of Four)).

They're bloody marvellous, frankly. Best debut album of the year so far. Smart, way danceable, funny, they have tunes, and they have rhythm. Great lyrics too. Anyone who can get "refectory" into a top-10 hit is fine with me. For further indie cred, they're signed to Domino too, and hence subsidising a lot of other superb bands :)

Sometime I must listen to them other than on MW through a clock radio.

Also very good music to pace yourself too if you're jogging.
