Not a great deal to report lately. I punched through a (rebreakable) board for the first time at Karate on Monday, and have a grading early next month. The hole in my hand is visibly healing. [livejournal.com profile] lark_ascending gave us an uplighter that's surplus to requirements, which should help our downstairs which is sometimes just a little too dark.

I spent a couple of days at work chasing what we thought was a compatibility problem but is currently looking more like someone failing to read (all of) a manual; the rest of the time I've been reviewing a colleague's design and working on one of my own, both of which have been relatively mathematical exercises.

Long ago I lived in a house that we called Green End, on account of being on a road of the same name in Cambridge. It turns out that there are around a dozen places called Green End in Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire; sometime in the not too distant future I'd like to visit them all. They are somewhat clustered, so it may be possible to do it in perhaps three or four cycle trips, albeit much longer ones than I'm used to (so some training will be required!)

I don't have a clear plan as to when to do this, if the autumn is not too wet and I can get in enough distance cycling practice beforehand then it might be possible to do it this year, but I'm rather coming round to thinking of it as a 2005 project. It might be something to do after rather than before upgrading my camera, too, whcih I'm gradually getting more keen on (the recent outbreak of camera pr0n on my friends list hasn't helped, though I lack the photographic experience to fully appreciate it).

There's a Green End about 550m from my house. It's where all the posh Comberton people live.
