I assume it's a merkin page?
(Given that they seem to think that hippopotami isn't a correct plural form, whereas my 1963 English-English (as opposed to American-English)dictionary quite clearly shows that it is)
It just bristles in places with "we adopted this language so now it's ours" attitudes in places ;-)

It's a wiki, so any number of people from all over might have contributed. I don't think I'd strongly disagree that "hippopotami" was hypercorrectness, either.

The bit which says that "es" (in words like "watches") is pronounced with z preceded by a neutral vowel isn't common to all of English either - my dialect (and RP speakers in general) pronounce this with the vowel of "bit", not schwa.
