Dec. 16th, 2004 05:42 pmThis year I took up Karate and read The Decline And Fall Of The Roman Empire (well, most of it; there's a bit left to go but I'm not expecting to have much difficulty finishing it on schedule).
The Karate will continue, and I have a huge backlog of more sensibly sized books to read, but I'm starting to ponder what I can do on a similar scale next year. Some time ago some of us made a joint effort to (variously) learn or improve our Latin; that kind of got stalled but I was considering trying to pick that up again on my own. There's several languages I'm interested in knowing a bit more about but Latin feels like a good place to start right now.
I'm also a bit jealous of the beatiful photographs some of the people I know are capable of producing. While my camera isn't exactly the most advanced pieces of kit I'm sure I could get more out of it with a bit of study and effort.
