Whatever you do, don't get it replaced by Dixons/Curry's/Comet. Pick a small independent retailer, or John Lewis.
My personal advice is not to get anything expensive or snazzy, either. My current washer-drier was £325 delivered and installed, and is going strong a few years later. If it breaks after five years, at least I'll have saved up for a new one. (-8
The gentleman in Robert Sayle didn't even try to sell me the £1100 one (...and to my later regret I didn't ask what on earth you got for all the extra money).
