I don't think the Conservative Party should survive: the time for its coalition of Burkean conservatives, libertarians, one-nation Tories and anti-Europeans is at an end, and it should undergo a schism like the old Liberal party. Labour would become the new party of no change(1) and economic conservativism with British levels of state socialism.

(1) Blair has just announced another program of reform. This is code for "no important change".

And the group we can call the Social Conservatives Party will combine with the SLP to form the Liberal party and we'll all have a good laugh?
