My new lens has an image stabilisation feature. When turned on the usual franticly shaking image is replaced by one that is gently moves around in the viewfinder; indeed it took me a moment to notice it was moving at all. Extended over 1/13s (as it happens) the difference is striking:

*nods* Our Canon camcorder from 1995 has one of their early IS systems in, and it performs superbly -- maybe one day I'll invest in an IS lens for the EOS, but at the moment I'm hesitant to expand my EF collection in case it starts to rival my older FD outfit!
