The last two are respectively the Alconbury Distribution Centre at Alconbury Hill looking Eastwards with the B1043 in the foreground and the Norman Cross interchange on the A1(M) looking Northwards.
I'm guessing the other two are pieces of Peterborough?
What sort of exposure/aperture/"film speed"/ are these? I presume you had to do something more complicated exposure-wise than just let your camera figure it out itself...
The lens was 50mm and mostly I had it at f/2 or f/1.8, with a shutter speed of 1/80s. The camera was set to ISO 1600 but all the images were increased by a stop in post-processing giving the equivalent of ISO 3200 (except one or two which got two stops).
The splodges of sodium streetlight are very pleasing, aren't they? I wouldn't have expected them to work so well. Does that correspond much to what your eyes/brain saw when you were up there? The shape of the last one is lovely.
It's mostly pretty close, the main exception being 4680, where IIRC the streets were a bit more clearly visible to my eyes. Still, I'm not unhappy with it.
That last photo is a pretty good advertisement for the low-scatter lighting they use on that section of the A1(M). When it was installed a decade ago it was the first time I'd seen such lighting, and I was very impressed.
Oh, and there's a chance the Highways Agency might be prepared to pay money for that photo, for some purpose or other. Failing that, CBRD would no likely appreciate it, though Chris certainly can't pay. (-8
The single most striking thing in any of these pictures, to me, is the glowing blue building in the first one, which is the only significant thing that isn't orange or black. Do you know what building it is?
Go ahead. More here (http://www.greenend.org.uk/rjk/gallery/photos/2006/09-30). If higher-resolusion versions would be useful they can be made available (but given the rather challenging conditions you may not find them as much use as they might be in other circumstances).

1/60s was too slow.
