I'm guessing Mary was exiled for being too blatantly manipulative. I don't think she did one surprising thing in the entire episode (if you read a vampiric blonde's mind in a bar in Torchwood then what do you expect to find but snogging?)

Importing a big chunk of Unbreakable into the middle was a bit cheesy. They could at least have had Toshiko come up with the idea herself.

Boots out of date? No, more boots please, thanks. (Also stripy tights, but that's not strictly relevant to Torchwood...)

I thought only American TV characters stayed dressed when shagging. For a show that's obsessed with sex there's surprisingly little nudity.

I'd have kept the pendant. Ugly tool, and I suspect they (and everyone else who has considered the question) is right that you wouldn't want to know what most people were really thinking, but useful if used carefully - I'm sure Torchwood would find it handy as an interrogation tool. But it'd be a pig for future plots, so I guess it had to go.

You took the words right out of my episode review. The public are catching on ;-)

Ah, but you see, that's where Torchwood proves to in fact be a surprisingly *accurate* exploration of the darker side of life n Britain: when it comes to sex, it's got the attitude of prurient fascination coupled with puritan repression down perfectly.
