*photography envy*. I hate this idea that it's the equipment that makes the photograph. It takes a great deal of skill to pull off strong images like these.

I'm not saying it doesn't, I respect and admire Richard's skill and I should hope he already knows this. When I have attempted such photography my lenses are physically incapable of the detail and magnification here, thus I am envious.
