I'm highly inclined to think it doesn't delete the site, because the noscript bit has the button as a straight hyperlink that some webcrawling bot would surely have hit by now.

It sets a cookie, and if the cookie is present, it pretends that the site is empty. Neat trick.

Cute. Last modified April 1st, I notice.

The effect is spoilt somewhat if you have a dialogue box pop up saying that the site is trying to set a cookie.

Not as much as it's spoiled if you silently reject cookies.

I pressed the button, but only after looking at the poll results to check other people had done so first.

I didn't click it at first, but had to re-vote after I'd read Lucy's vote and thought I'd give it a go. I think telling people how it works in the comments is *mean* though.

How do you explain the fact that I got a 404 from that site then?

(And then, on refresh, 5 minutes later, got the page).

Clicked the button, but not until I'd read the comments that said what it did...

Clicked it twice, worked out how it worked afterwards.

I didn't click the button, 'cos I've clicked it before and it's boring. Ho hum. :-)

Of course I did - I was curious to see what they were going to say to those that pressed it. I do hope I wasn't supposed to believe they meant it. (a) Nobody's that daft, and (b) the chances of my being the *first* person to press it are as close to zero as makes no odds.

Bah! Where was the option for "I wrote the button"?

No-one who did _that_ would hang out in a sleazy LJ like _this_. :-)

Not everything becomes sleazy just because it's got a Damerell in it.

Interesting. I think this button neatly demonstrates my theory that the third von-Neumann/Morgenstern axiom of rational choice doesn't hold in the case of catastrophic consequences.

You missed an option: "I cheated and looked at the source code to see what happened when I pressed the button".

i did not click the button bcause i like the thought that someone out there fits me into the 'basically decent' segment of humanity ;-) (but then I came right back here to find out what heppens when you do click the button, because I knew that someone would have done, and that they'd then have posted about it, and now I'm going to go and click it, to see for myself)
