The grey in this and this mean that I sometimes mistake one for the other when I've only got as far as blearily noticing the images. Which becomes incredibly confusing as I read the text.

With one or two exceptions, the cases where two people have userpics generated by the same online make-a-userpic-like-your-face-in-a-particular-style widgets don't quite provoke the same sort of error.

I suspect then that I'm using color far and away more than pattern (or size) to distinguish these things.

I confuse people with the same mood icons, in particular loreid and purpleleopard who both have the violet cats.

Whose is the second one?

I used to often confuse emperor's woodcut phoenix with someone else's icon (one of ptc24's?) but the the second doesn't seem to have turned up much recently.

These days I have the most problems with people-standing-in-the-sea pictures, eg. emperor's, ghoti's, kitty_goth's, and I'm sure there are more I've forgotten. Makes life very confusing, because they're all very different people...

No, it's a scan of a picture produced during a pictionary game. (I think the paper being used was newsprint).

I'm sometimes confused by the number of people who have eyes as userpics.

velvetpurrs and kissycat1000 have some pictures that are strongly conceptually related. Fortunately, they don't seem to comment in the same places as one another.

I don't think looks anything like bopeepsheep, so it sometimes gives me a double-take. She also has lots of baby pictures that also doesn't look like her, so I sometimes think it's posted under smallclanger's identity when in fact it isn't.

(BTW how about some image size attributes, as some people have the LJ option turned on that doesn't display large images, but it doesn't display small images either without size attributes.)
