I still think the best Valentine's day I've ever had while single was sesquipedality's party a few years ago containing ludicrous quantities of garlic.
Hm. I don't know why, but that suddenly makes a hell of a lot of sense. There should be a garlic party every valentines. I don't know why it makes sense, but it just feels right.
If anything would make couples as jealous of non-couples as non-couples can be of couples it would be that.
It's probably too late this year, but we should totally do this next year.
It wasn't specifically a garlic party, in fact; it just happened to have a lot of garlic at it, and that struck me as a good thing for much the reasons you've hinted at. But yes, I'd go to a deliberate one :-)
