This must be one of the first photos I ever took. The small boy is my brother. I was given a 110 format camera when I was small - perhaps seven or so? I don't know what's become of it now. It'd have been either my birthday or Christmas, both are in December so the snow doesn't really tell you which unless you can remember details of Bournemouth's weather in the 1980s.

This is probably Neuschwanstein, built by the mad (or possibly just politically inconvenient) King Ludwig II of Bavaria:

Somewhere up in the Alps, perhaps looking into Austria?

(Apologies for the lo-fi images - as well as being a cheap and cheerful camera in the hands of a child, these are scans from prints over 20 years old.)

I recently scanned my first film's worth of photos (http://bjh21.me.uk/pictures/1985ish_misc/) from about the same time. I have the slight advantage of not having lost the negatives, but the disadvantage of even greater photographical ineptitude.

I have the negatives for photos from merely a decade and a half ago but I'm not sure where the ones for the oldest ones have got to.

It never snows much in Bournemouth. It did snow in January 1985, and Nigel was wearing that cardigan about then.

I have a picture of you in a cub scout uniform in Spring 1985 and a note that you finished cubs then. But my picture shows a lot of badges on the jersey so was later than yours. The holiday that took us to Germany etc was June 1982.
